The Pitt-Jolie family is moving from the Lycée Français curriculum, a multicultural dual-language curriculum for 3-year-olds through twelfth graders, to what Pitt says their “own home schooling.” He points out they have social activities lined up for their children each week and will even fly their kids’ friends to them if they are away for a long period of time.
It was great to read a popular celebrity telling the world what home schoolers have been saying for some time. “Our kids can get through the normal school day-what took me eight hours in a public school-as well as homework in four hours or so in home school.” He goes on to touch on one of my favorite aspects of home schooling. “It allows extra time to develop their interests,” for example, music, sports and art.
I knew I liked Mr. Pitt for a reason. If you would like to read the entire interview, pick up the Parade insert in your local paper for Sunday, September 18, 2011.

Makes sense really – why not have complete control over the direction, content and pace of the direction of your children’s education and tailor it to their individual needs? I hope the Pitt Jolie family enjoy taking this next, natural step to learning at home.
